The owners of the company are the municipalities of Helsinki , Espoo , Kauniainen and Vantaa in the capital region . Pääkaupunkiseudun Junakalusto Oy is a procurement entity that complies with the legislation on public procurement, which was established to acquire and own the new train equipment needed for traffic in the HSL region. The core mission of the rolling stock company is to handle procurement professionally and efficiently. The rolling stock company tenders contracts for trains and financing. The rolling stock company is responsible for the life cycle management of the rolling stock it owns and also procures the maintenance it is responsible for and supervises the implementation of the maintenance of the train units. The rolling stock company also arranges the necessary depot facilities and real estate for the owned stock. A long-term procurement strategy and sufficiently sized delivery batches enable economically advantageous solutions in terms of both procurement terms and financing. The rolling stock company leases the train units it acquires with a long-term lease agreement to HSL (Helsinki region transport municipal corporation), which in turn hands the train units over to the operator. The rolling stock company does not make a profit, but the profit from its operation is transferred in the form of low-cost rents to the local transport of the capital region ordered by HSL. The Sm5 city trains were supplied by the Swiss company Stadler Bussnang AG. Stadler's brand name for these electric locomotives is Flirt; it stands for Fast Light Innovative Regional Train. Sm5 Trains The new city trains will significantly improve the travel comfort of commuter traffic in the capital region. With a low floor, the train is also easily accessible for people with strollers, wheelchairs or bicycles. Traveling inside the train is also easy, because the trains do not have intermediate doors between the vestibules and the passenger compartment. Free seats are easily found in the spacious interior.
