Concessionary Travel In United KingdomSome local authorities or councils offer schemes that let eligible residents, for example those who are elderly or disabled, use public and community transport services at a discounted rate or for freeAbout Concessionary TravelAs well as being available for disabled or elderly residents, there are some concessionary travel schemes for other groups, such as young people, job seekers or veterans. Eligible residents will often be provided with a bus pass but in some areas this can also be used for rail travel.You can find more information on selected concessionary travel schemes below:Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount CardIf you are claiming Jobseekers Allowance or Universal Credit, you may be entitled to a Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Card. This entitles you to a 50% discount on selected rail tickets.The card is provided to those claiming Jobseekers Allowance or Universal Credit for 3 to 9 months (for 18 to 24 year olds) or 3 to 12 months (for over 25s). You can apply through your Work Coach or local Jobcentre Plus.
