Guide to Hull, England

Hull is the capital of culture in 2017. Many cultural events are happening in Hull in 2017.

In 1377, the future Earl of Suffolk, Michael de la Pole decided to set up the Hull Charterhouse.
 
It was always well stocked and had the administration of a hospital founded by the father of the founder.

However, not enjoying large subsidies and donations remained a very poor convent.

During the schism of England, Henry VIII allowed this community to continue to perform their activities cloistered, for without delay, the men of Hull signed the actual acts imposed in 1535.

The Carthusian monks exiled from London was host to Hull, and two of them killed in 1536, guilty of having participated in a revolt. In 1539 the act of signing the Sale of Hull Charterhouse and the adjoining hospital fell into disrepair. Later in that place a new hospital was created as a reminder of the ancient monastery of Charterhouse.
